Use VB.NET on Win Me Possible?
Can a licenssed version of VB.NET be installed on a PC using Winows 98/ME platform? The box says it is for WINNT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
I tried to install it, and I get an error saying service pack update is needed, even though the latest service pack from Microsoft is installed. Is it possible to use VB.net with Win 98/Me, or will the PC need upgrade to WinXP/2000? I'm thinking the Win32 Kernel might be the problem, as VB.net seems to like the NTFS/Winnt platform. Thanks for any replies, -Hamfiles- Last edited by hamfiles : January 1st, 2004 at 10:26 PM. |

Well, VB.NET 2003 edition only works with WINNT/XP/2000. Here is some info for anyone interested.
The free Version of VB.NET 1.1 works on Windows 98/me. Here's some info. http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframew...qs/default.aspx It is a free redistributable download. Here is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en This is an unlicensed version, which means you will not be able to convert anything you code to a later version. Its still a good learning tool, though. |
