Database connection class OOP
I am brand new to ASP.net, have developed apps using ASP in the past. I have downloaded and reviewed the samples on www.asp.net and have an understanding on how the apps are developed using classes.
To start off, I am trying out a very basic site, 2 pages, one has the form and the other displays the results.
I want to create a class, lets call it Customers which would have the connection, database access to retrieve the customer information from my Access database. I am thinking this is the approach to develop apps in .NET. I want to be able to use this class whenever I want to show any customer information.
So far I have added this in the web.config page:
<add key="ConnectionString" value="Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\JobsASPNET\DB\database.mdb;Persist Security Info=False" />
I am assuming that this connection string could be used anywhere on the site.
What is the difference between a Component and a Class as definded in Visual Studio.Net?
Can anyone give me an example code on how my above task could be performed? I am using C#.
Thanks for your help.
