2 pcs via 1 telewest broadband connection?

I currently have broadband access using a SurfBoard SB4100 modem through Telewest Broadband on my desktop pc. I'm a complete beginner to networking - I want to be able to connect a laptop in another room to the internet using the same Telewest service. How exactly would I go about doing this? The laptop has a built-in modem and was previously connected to the internet at a university. Any tips would be much appreciated!

Buy yourself a wireless router and a wireless card for the laptop. Follow the instructions for setting them up.

If the laptop has a nic you can not get the wireless card but run a long cable from room to room and connect to the switch.

Personally I like the wireless idea [:-)]

If I were to use cable, what extra equipment would I need and how would I set up the laptop to connect to the net? I'm primarily after a dual internet connection using the same modem. I don't need to transfer files between computers - just need internet access on both. Any ideas?

By the way Wanderer2, wireless is a nice idea, but the laptop is still under guarantee so I don't want to open it up. Surely there is a way using the existing modem in the machine?

Damn, the silence! Haha.. let me clarify this once and for all because I really need a definitive answer but perhaps I haven't explained it very well and I'm complicating the issue.

So here goes again: I currently have Telewest Broadband running fine on a dekstop pc (Win ME). Is it possible to use the same Telewest Broadband service, simultaneously, on a laptop (Win XP) in another room? If so, how would I do this and what equipment do I need?

Note: I do not need full networking capability, I don't need to share files between computers or anything like that. All I need is for both machines to have internet access.

Any help and advice is much appreciated.
