3Com switches hangs once in a week
Hi,
I have a network of 120 users connected with one 3Com 4900 gigabit backbone switch and 4250 3Com switches. Some users even connected to the old hubs. Some ports on the switches starts hanging and grows gradually. I cannot ping to any other computer from where the network hangs. The only solution is to restart (Power-off & Power-on) all the switches. Then the network works smoothly. I faced this problem even in my previous company, where I was using 3Com switches. I appreciate if somone can help me to wipe out this problem. And I thank you in advance for going through my problem. Regards... Mohammed Shafi. Email: mdshafi@canada.com |

make sure you have no loops in the network as spanning tree may drop those ports, make sure there are no line errors on the ports also such as crc, framing, or runts.

"switches start hanging"
So it starts at the bottom and works up to the main backbone switch? Loose the hubs and replace them with switches. If you look at the switch ports the hubs are connected to you will see errors. You need to narrow down what piece of equipment is going flaky. |
