98 - xp network made its own password!
I have recently set up a simple 2 machine network between a machine running win98 and one running xp pro.
Both machines can ping and see each other - ip adresses assigned manually as 192.168.0.1 and 2.
It all worked ok at first but now when you try to access the xp machine from the 98 it asks you for a password as follows!!
"IPC$ you must supply a password to make this connection
Resouce \\office1\ipc$ " followed by a box to type the password.
You can access the 98 machine from the XP no problem
I've tried creating a user on the XP machine with same username and password as the 98 one but it doesn't seem to make any difference
Any ideas most appreciated
Nick
