i was wondering what a good router is, i have been using the Linksys BEFW11S4 and frankly aim kinda tired of trying to configure it, and i heard that Linksys ares kinda crappy so if any one could recommend one...
also i found one for cheap: Zonet ZEW3000PF 802.11b Access Point if any one knows if this is a good one or not, i plan to hook up a computer via eithernet wire, and to wireless laptops. and i have DSL bellsouth, Xtream. i think that should cover the information part, let me know if you need any more information. and thanks in advance. |

I use a netgear router however recently it has been unreliable and needs to be rebooted about once a week. Dlink usually make good stuff and it's quite easy to configure if you are a novice.

Ahhhh I can't recommend D-Link.
I bought a D-Link wireless router (DI-624) and I've had nothing but problems with it. It worked fine with just the wired connections, but wireless was a real pain in the bum. The ASUS motherboard I bought came with a free wireless card. When trying to wireless network, it worked alright but pinging the router I get replies upwards of 2000ms. At first I started looking for interference but couldn't come up with anything. Reconfigured the router to operate on a different channel and whatnot. Still no luck. The wireless network was going up and down. One minute I could see it, the next I couldn't. But the router was actually dropping everyone (even those connected via ethernet, as this particular model is also a 4-port switch) and rebooting itself. I reset the entire thing, upgraded firmware, reconfigured it... still no luck. Thought it might be the dodge asus wifi card, so I went out a bought a D-Link PCI wireless card. This didn't help either. Still had 2000ms+ pings, router constantly rebooting itself, 2kb/sec local transfers. I tried turning off WEP encryption and enabling mac-based filtering. Bingo! She worked. Haven't had a problem with it since. I'd still consider it a ****ty product though, and as such.. cannot recommend it. |

Hey, maybe you can check this site.
URL Depends on the purpose...if it is for home use you migh find that the SMC 802.11g High Power Wireless Router with Built-in USB 1.1 Print Server (Recertified) is a good option. The data rates are satisfactory, good built in trx. security and not a bad price. Maybe, you could let me know what you think. Regards |

I'd probably recommend a Netgear one, like this:
