HiThere,
I have to computers runing xp pro linked on a small network On computer A I had a dsl modem which allowed access to internet on both machines. I set up the nework with the xp assisent and all worked perfectly. One fine day all changed. "A" continued to worke fine but "B" cant use messenger or access a multitude of web pages. After checking many times setup and re runing the assistasnt nothing improved. I checked both machines with varios anti-virus which found nothing. I have formated both hard drives (they wre a bit full of junk) and stared from scrach, the problem persists!!!!! If I conect the modem to "B" then the reverse happens, I can get anyware on he net and use messenger but machine "A" cant?¿?¿ I am lost...help please

Yes I have looked up all the info available and according to the experts all is correct? I can go for example to google, do a search, go to a result (though not always) but within the site not see all the pages, at times it "looks" for or "opens" the page during ages before showing the typical "page cannot be found". I cannot get messenger to connect "can’t find server" but on machine A I can do anything. If I connect the modem to PC "b" then this has no problem and PC "a" has problems. This makes me think that it’s a network problem, but why would it work fine, then just go wrong one fine day?, Norton, mc affee and panda find nothing? My modem is an ADSL USB, how do I connect this to a router? Thanks for your help..

Have you set the DNS servers correctly on the second PC?

You can't I don't think. Routers need to be connected to a modem which supports an ethernet interface.
