Unhappy APIPA issue

Hi

Anyone know how to solve Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA)? It will issue IP address range between 169.254.0.1 to 169.254.255.254 with default class B subnet mask?

Already checked/tried the following:

Broadband router (that serves DHCP function) with built-in ADSL modem is working because the desktop connected to it (via microhub) managed to get dynamic IP.

Access Point (also connected via microhub) is also working because other notebooks (running Win 2K/XP) managed to get dynamic IP as well.

The PCMCIA slots and wireless cardbus adapter are working on the same notebook (installed with 2 OS) running Win XP but not with Win 2K.

Existing adapter's driver (latest) is alright under Device Manager. But still unable to get any valid IP. The same driver is working in Win XP.

Have restarted DHCP in Services within Administrative Tools.

Removed WinSock & WinSock2 registry keys and re-installed TCP/IP.

Also tried WinSockFix software.

By the way, already un-installed AVG anti-virus and disabled Sygate firewall.

Any more suggestion(s)? Really need help on this issue with 2 notebooks now. Please assist if you know any resolution.

Thank you very much.

Hmm... not sure. I think what I'd try would be to test the computer with a wired connection to the router. That way you'd be able to see if it is the config of the wireless card or something else wrong.
