Actually, the law is that you can own P2P software, but you cannot download or distribute any copyrighted data.

You don;t even have to be distributing it, just "offering" it. Which you have already admitted to. Oopsie.

I must admit, I did get something wrong, all I had read regarding the downloading through emule is that the firewall is strict and will not permit it. The document did not suggest it was forbidden but then again it did not suggest it was. I would have thought this university would have been more thorough regarding the papers sent out to us but obviously it is not.

Oh and btw, I am at Plymouth University and not Gloucester, however we do share the same leased line and seeing as Gloucester has the biggest bandwidth out of us both, I would assume we use their ISP so to speak.

I have contacted certain people and have been informed that the rules and regulations regarding downloading through Emule and other P2P networks, is forbidden, and so I am no longer seeking advice or support on how to accomplish this through the university network.

Thank-you for your help anyway, I was drunk earlier and so I may have come across a bit strong/angry, now that I am not so drunk, I can see the mistake I have made.

I do find the devshed forums to be useful, I think I was just a bit surprised that there was not someone else who used emule.

Chow.
