Windows 2003 server comes with a built in Internet sharing software called Internet Connection Sharing. Right-click the Internet connection in Network Connections and select Properties. Click the Advanced tab and enable ICS.
To allow other computers to access the Internet, make sure that the clients have their default gateway set to the Ip address of the server. |

You never mentioned HOW you are connecting to the internet. Dialup or broadband?
The BEST internet sharing is done with a ROUTER connected to your cable/dsl internet connection. It is under $100 in the US for the equipment, everyone gets a straight pipe to the internet and its quick and easy to setup. ICS on the other hand requires two nics in the server if using broadband or a nic and a modem [bad slow idea for shared internet via modem]. This is not mentioning the time to configure. If the server is down no one has internet access. Just some highlights! Best of luck on what you decide. |

Another thing to add: don't forget that if you are using dial-up your clients will need some way to be able to connect and disconnect from the Internet. You may need to look at some shareware programs which you install on all the computers which allows them to control the dial-up connection.
