can a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B be a HUB?
i have two Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B, one is set up as my main router that is connected to my cable modem and connected to computers and is my wireless base station. I have a wire that runs about 50 feet to another room that I want to connect #2 as a HUB. But dont wasnt to buy a HUB, why not use my #2 Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B as the HUB. Can I do that? I do not want to connect them via wirless because it is to slow, i want to use my second Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B as a hub to connect my Playstation2 and other computers to. Any ideas? do i need turn the wireless off on the second one? I do have wireless laptops in the house and dont want the second one to cause a probem. Could I just leave the wirless on that second one and have a stronger network? Can I just run the line from the #1 to the WAN in #2?
thanks craig |

if you use the wan port on #2 then it will route you dont want that just plug it into the switch side and dissable DHCP. better yet connect the two using the wireless and not wiring them together it will work as a repeater.

OK, cool, - I am going to go with the wired set up beacuse speed is what I need from that area of the house. If I have it set up via the wire and have DHCP turned off but wireless ON will it still work as a repeater for wired and wireless?

Yep, it will, but check your documentation for setting up "roaming" wireless. This will allow your wireless clients to hit the WAP with the strongest signal.
