Windows XP home can only be part of a workgroup. It cannot be part of a domain. However, if the domain name is domain.com, you can set the workgroup on the XP home machine to domain. As long as you have a user on the server which matches your username and password on the XP home computer, you'll still be able to access shared resources, such as shared folders, Internet access and printers etc. The only thing you can't do it join it to the domain itself (so you can't use things like Group Policy etc.)
XP Pro works in both domains and workgroups. |
