You should only need to disable the Internet Connection Firewall from the advanced tab. You do want Internet Connection Sharing disable as well, if you aren't sharing the Internet to other computers.
If you assign IP addresses manually, with the IP address in the 192.168.0.x subnet, and set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, can you ping between the two computers?
