Changing IP
How can i have 2 ip (different subnet)on the same machine. Coz i am changing ip and i don't want any downtime while i update the dns. I am running RH7.3. Thank you!

It is possible to have multiple IPs per NIC but it depepends on your situation.
The only way you'll be able to do this is if you have two IPs assigned by the same ISP (on the same service as well). If you have an IP assigned by one ISP and another IP by a different ISP then you'll need a second NIC as stated by xtremcoder. You'll also need a second NIC if you they are from the same ISP but on different services. However If they are from the same ISP (and same connection/service) then both IPs will most probably be set by DHCP. If not then unforunatly I don't know Linux and I would tell you the unix way but I'm pretty sure it's different. You should be able to find some documentation about it on google or a linux site. |
