Cisco Catalyst 2900 XL
I would like to see if I am correct in my thoughts of the condition of a Catalyst 2900 XL I have on hand. It looks like it lost the image to fully boot the system and I am unable to transfer an image via xmodem and set the boot param to it. I cannot configure the system for the network so that rules out tftp.
Any thoughts? I am sure there is something I am missing. |

I have not done this on an 2900XL but have done this many times on routers that had a bad image blown onto them.
hold the button in on the front while booting up which should take you to rommon1> and see if there is a command called tftpdnld if there is then do the associated commands rommon>set 2. Set the IP address of the ASI/MRP. rommon 2 >IP_ADDRESS=10.0.0.3 3. Set the subnet mask. rommon 3 > IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.0 4. Set the IP address of the TFTP Server. rommon 4 >TFTP_SERVER=10.0.0.1 5. Enter the filename to get. rommon 5 > TFTP_FILE= 6. rommon 6>sync 7. rommon 6 >tftpdnld that will give the switch the info it needs to download from a tftp server from rommon mode. like I said I havent done this on a switch only routers so try it and let me know what comes from it if I get on a 2900 soon Ill test it myself. (actualy just did this on a 2610 router last week hehe) Last edited by juniperr : April 30th, 2004 at 09:10 AM. |
