Client Network Backup Solutions
We are looking to start backing up critical files saved on user workstations and laptops (PSTs, Personal Files, etc), and I would like to hear some options in software.
Right now we rely on users running a batch script which XCOPYs to the server, but this is requires the user to rember, which we all know NEVER happens. ![]() We currently user Veritas BackupExec for our server infrastructure, but having looked at Veritas NetBackup pricing, it doesn't seem to be an option for our Enterprise (400+ clients, 4 remote sites). Basically we're looking for an effective way to backup to a fileserver, I've come across Arkeia and NovaNET in my Google searches but don't know anything about these applications. Environment is all Win2K/XP with 2K/2K3 servers, so unfortunately Unix options are out of the question. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dave |

just enable that batch file to run once a day as a scheduled task. (found in control panel, task manager). Actualy you should have people only keeping documents on the server and not their PC. as for email Im assuming you have exchange and are doing brick level backups? Also there might be something comparible in microsoft world that is like Novells i-folder that syncs files with server and other computers.
