Computer can't see others in workgroup
I have a small home network with two wireless laptops and a desktop with a Linksys wireless router connected to the internet through Comcast. The laptops are XP and the desktop is running ME. All the machines can access the internet without problems. The internal IP addresses look fine when I run ipconfig. The problem I am having is one of the laptops cannot "see" the other computers so I can share the printers on the desktop or share a drive. I can ping the desktop's IP address without a problem from that computer. My other laptop has no problem sharing with the desktop so I am assuming the problem is on the laptop.
Thank you in advance! ![]() |

Have you checked that the workgroup is the same?
You need to make sure the workgroup is the same on all three machines. Also with xp home you may need to run the network wizzard.

Suggest u also check your firewalls if any running. I had to configure Zonealarm on my 2 PCs (1 laptop 1 desktop) by adding the IP address of the opposite PC to the Trusted Zone in the firewall menu in Zonealarm. The XP PC may have the WIndows firewall stopping one way traffic - I had XP SP2 when the problem arose on 2 PCs that were working fine - I had selected the Win XP firewall off so Zonealarm controlled the firewall but maybe your XP has a firewall doing a similar thing.
