Question config static private IP (speedtouch 510)

Hi guys,

How do I register two static private ips? My systems have two network cards each where one card is for the Internet(auto DHCP) and the other for the local net(static IP). The Internet works well through the speedtouch 510 (both pcs) but how can I enable the static private ips to be able to access the other pc? I think I have to register the ips with the SP 510 but HOW?

Thx for any insight into this black box...

I'm slightly confused...

You have two computers which are connected with private static IP addresses (like 192.168.0.x or 10.0.0.x). On your internal network, you can use these addresses as you want, there's no reason you have to register them anywhere because they're only seen on your local network. As long as the IP address and subnet mask is set correctly and the computers are connected together, they should be able to communicate without a problem.

If I've got the wrong end of your story, perhaps you could explain it in a bit more detail.

The particular problem here is that the speedtouch routes everything through 10.0xxx and ignores any private IP routing. In other words when you want all Internet access (only) through 10.0.xxx and the local network should use the other network card (here 172.31.0.x) - how can u make this happen? Since both cards use tcp/ip but different ip addresses it seems the speedtouch routes everything though 10.0.0xx! I can prevent this problem by assigning the local network card a different protocol (netbeui). However, i would prefer the other way. Any idea what is going wrong?
