Hello,
I've recently connected two computers (one running WIN XP PRO and the other WIN 2000 PRO) to Internet with a switch. The two computers have different computer name and IP number. Scenario: the switch is linked to the Internet-output on the wall, and the computers connected to the switch. The two computers are configured with IP numbers etc, and can run Internet. But how do I now proceed to connect these two computers with each other, to create a home network? ![]() //its a great place to enhance knowledge |

I guess that each computer has an Internet IP address (rather than an internal one like 192.168.0.x).
I think you'd be a lot easier doing your network differently. Plug the Internet connection into one computer (which would need an additional network card), or a router, and make this have two IP addresses - one internal and one external. This would then share the Internet to the other computer which would also have an internal IP address. |
