Lightbulb Connecting 2 wired n/w via wireless

Hi all,

I have a little problem that has beaten me. I'm not particularly good with the hardware side of things and need some advice.

I have a network of 5 machines all running XP, on a combination of ethernet and wireless thru a Netgear DG834G Adsl modem/router.

My problem is that I need to move 2 of the wired PC's into another building (about 10 feet away from the router) and connect them wirelessly to it.

building one will have the router,1 wired PC and 2 wireless laptops.
building 2 will have two wired PC's, currently connected to each other via a hub.

what I want to do is link the hub in B2 with the router in B1 wirelessly, without having to buy 2 new wireless network cards for the PC's in B2, as the number machines in B2 are likely to increase at some point.

All help greatfully received on this

Thanks
Steve

I think what you need is a wireless access point, not a wireless router. This should give you a wireless "wire" to the second location.

Question

Thanks Doug,

I've got an AP now and set the thing up with the right network name, given it an IP in the correct range. but I can't get it to either recognise the existing wireless network or the get network to regonise it.

I have the following now

PC1- \/L1 -PC5
-->standard hub -->AP1 /\/\/\/\ AP2 -->ADSL-->Internet
PC3- /\L2 -PC4

AP1 and AP2 just don't want to talk to each other
I've tired setting the std.hub to uplink and normal but no effect. PC1 and PC3 cannot connect to AP1
My laptops (L1 and L2) connect fine to the existing (AP2) network.

PC1 and PC3 aren't getting an IP from the DCHP either

All help greatfully recieved as I am way beyond my knowledge on this.

Thanks

Steve
