connecting to my own server
I have my router connected to two computers.
I have a site hosted on one of them, and i have my router set up to direct to that network ip. the problem is, when i try to access my own ISP givin ip, i get my router settings page. if i access my ip from another place like my friends house, i get my server look i should. the only way for me to access my server at home, is by actually going to the server over the network ip, not the actuall ip. is there a way i can set it up to only go to my router settings if i specifically go to the router's ip? |

No this won't work. For internal network access you have to use the internal network IP address, rather than your public Internet one. This sort of makes sense because on your local network, the computer you're trying to access doesn't have the external IP address. It only so happens that when you access the address for the router from externally, you can set up port forwarding to forward requests to an internal server.

my router should direct me to the server. it says all access on port 80 is forwarded, they shoulda made a way. |

I have a linksys router with port 80 forwarded to a server on my local network, and I can access the server without any problem using either the internal IP or my public external IP. I suspect it's up to the kind of router you're using.
