Hi folks...I know this has been asked a million times, but I still cant seem to get it to work. I have a cable modem, conntected to a linksys wireless router, an XP machine connected to the router, and another machine running 98 with a wireless adapter accessing the router. I can access the internet fine from each of them, but I want to be able to see each computer from the other. I have enabled file and print sharing on the 98 machine, shared a folder in the 98 machine, as well as the XP machine, given them both the same workgroup name, and even walked thru the windows XP 'setting up a small offices or home network' wizard, and I still cant see the PCs from each other. I can see themselves in network neighborhood, but not the other PC. Does having the firewall enabled on the XP machine matter? I just cant seem to get anywhere, and appreciate any help.
Thanks, Juan |

The firewall could matter. On the XP machine the firewall should be disabled on the local area connection - otherwise it will prevent access to the computer. Can you also check that the computers have IP addresses which are on the same subnet. This will probably be the case though, as you've probably got your router acting as a DHCP server. Also, check to see if you can ping from one comptuer to the other.
