DCC between Win2K an XP
I have a laptop which I use for traveling with Win XP, and at home a desktop with Win 2000 Pro. I have eerything hooked up to my desktop, printer, scanner, camera.
I was able to use the Laptop to see the dektop and share files that way. Now all I can do is see the laptop on the desktop in the network. I connect the two computers using a Direct connect through the LAN ports. I am at the point now where I would like to just start from scratcg, I think it might be easier than try to state what I have tried and what I get. Can anyone tell me how I go about this. Basically if I can share files between the two computers I will be happy. I can scan files in the transfer, or transfer files then print. I'm looking for an article step by step if possible. Thank you Dave |

Firstly make sure that you haven't got any firewalls enabled on the computers. Then confirm that you're using a crossover cable between the two computers. After this, assign the IP settings manually to each computer. Give one an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the other an Ip address of 192.168.0.2. Make sure that the subnet mask is set to 255.255.255.0 on both. Once you've done that, before going any further, check to see if you can ping in both computers from each other.
