dhcp error

hi.....i have a win2k server(active directory) for a small home network.i also use this box for my vpn server(dhcp and dns server installed-ras configured).people can vpn into box no problem....however...the problem im having is after the server has been up and running for a few hours i get a warning in event viewer(system-event id 20169) that the remote access server was unable to contact a dhcp server.it was able to see it and service clients with a valid ip for three hours but all of a sudden now it cant.

i stop and restart the dhcp server and all is fine for a few more hours.the only other error in event viewer is event id 5781(dynamic registration or deregistration of one or more dns records failed because no dns servers availible).people can still vpn in after this error so it may be meaningless.ive tried to fix it with microsofts solution but to no avail.im alittle fuzzy on dns so im not even sure i should disable dynamic dns registration or not.as ive stated earlier the box is just for home network and a few vpn clients.

i`d appreciate it if anyone can solve this problem or send me in the right direction.thanx

Sounds like the MB election is forcing off the DHCP server, try disabling Computer browser in services for all but the Server or set the server "IsDomainManager" to "TRUE" and make sure no other machines are set to this value.
