DHCP Server
I have some questions about DHCP on win2003. This is the first time I have setup DHCP and need some insight as to what I can expect and what I should do to avoid undesirable issues. I have a Cisco ubr900 series router that is currently issuing IP's to my client PC's. I would like to use my server as the DHCP server. The internal IP of the router is 192.168.1.1. If I issue a scope on the windows server like 192.168.2.1 - 192.168.2.254 with a subnet 255.255.255.0 will my clients still be able to use 192.168.1.1 as a gateway and see my server as the DHCP server? I dont really want to turn off DHCP on the router because 1. I dont know how and 2. my ISP is being standoffish about giving me the admin user and password because they actually own it. Any opinions and help are greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't have two DHCP servers on the same network. You should only ever have the one. If you can't disable the one on the Cisco router, then I wouldn't install it on the Windows 2003 server.

not sure if it is work with your router, but if you want to stop the routers DHCP server then have a look at cable-modem dhcp-proxy
