dynamic and static IP's
ok i have a dynamic IP (Verizon DSL-lol) and i need to host my website because my wonder *cough* host closed. anyway is there a way i can find my IP? I found the "external" IP but its just my router. i have my pc through a linksys router into verizon's westel modem into the dsl line thing. is there a way i can set up a static ip or something? i tried using dnydns but for a domain.com they want $$ and i dont have $$ to give them. any suggestions are welcome. until then, i'll just post in the web hosting forums.

Good day,
If you are wondering how to view your IP address that has been assigned to you from your ISP, just go to www.whatismyip.com. This web site will show you the IP address that the router has. Try using www.no-ip.com. This web site cost nothing to you and allows your site to be accessible without updating DNS with a dynamic IP address.

hello,
If your isp is dynamic, might try changing services? Even when you do host, you have to get apache and dns. (foxserv )Or of course, use linux or get win2003server. This costs time, and in certain times, money. Much more than paying for a host to host your website! Im a webhost.. hosting from home aint exactly the best idea. Reseller account pays off your hosting bills, so might try that! http://WebsiteUnited.com Need anything, please contact me

Ah...if you have Verizon HOME DSL, you will find that Port 80 is blocked...this will add a layer of issues to your dilemma
