Equipment needed to set up a WAN?
What equipment is needed to set up a WAN from scratch (besides routers)?


I am looking for a 'brainstorm' type of answer, I am trying to design a WAN network considering all costs for equipment and maintenance....

Well, you will need a lot of cables to reach out a "wide area".

The primary difference between a WAN and a (mid-size) LAN is whether it is "Wide" or "Local".
Bascially, you will need DNS, DHCP, Routers, switces, cables etc.

Maybe a bit more information would be nice.
What you are telling sounds a bit to vague. Are you thinking about starting up an ISP?

Thanks for the information. Basically a handful of LANs are set up on a college campus and I need to set up the WAN for all these college buildings on a campus.
