If you're giving your computer IP settings manually, you'll need settings like this:
IP address: unique on the network, but in the same subnet as the other computers. So, if you've got a router with the address 192.168.1.1, you could give your computer 192.168.1.200 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: IP address of the router or computer with the Internet connection - probably 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 DNS servers: The IP addresses of the two DNS servers provided to you by your ISP. You'll need to check their website for details. |
