I have the following equipment avalable 2 PIII 500 machines each fitted with 128 meg ram and 40 gig H/D. 4 port network switch and a sitecom wlr 108 4 port router with adsl modem. The name server is more than enough, but the web server depending on the hits it will take is lacking in ram. I would want to see at least a gig of ram in the server.

For the nameservers, I'd recommend using a free service on the Internet which will look after your nameservers for you. I use www.zoneedit.com and I think it's very good. You setup an account with them and they'll give you 2 nameservers you can use for free. Then, you go back to the company with which you bought the domain and ask them to change the nameservers to those from ZoneEdit. Then, you can use the web-based interface to setup your webservers. |
