I am seeting up a server (win 2k Server)
I have 2 network cards that i want to team so that if one falls over, the other one will kick in. I have no idea on how to do this, and am finding it difficult to find out on the web. The two network card that i want to team are: Intel(R) Pro/100 Network Connection Intel(R) Pro/100 S Server Adapter Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks Mark |

This is referred to as fast etherchannel, goto intel site and get Advanced Network Services Software this will allow you to team the NICs by either load balancing or fault tolerance (usualy setup as load balancing for more bandwidth). then you need to configure the switch ports.

The best route would be to set these up as load-balanced that way with two NICs you will have 400Mbps bandwidth to the server in full duplex. Set up port aggregation or port grouping whichever your switch vendor calls it and if one NIC fails the switch should see this and goto one link. you can aggregate upto I believe 6 links.
