Guys, I have a windows 2000 professional machine that I need to share a cd drive anonymously. It is currently asking for a username and password everytime I try to log into it from another computer across the network. I need it to not ask for a username and password. Reason being is I have some software at work that logs into this shared drive with no username and password to reimage the computer it is on, and I can't set the username and password on this software. Thanks!

(^^;?(I'm not familiar with this, since no one try to answer.)
In WorkGroup, each one must set username and password, but if you set Domain controller, after logging in to the domain anyone permitted should not need these. |

First off to make a "anonymous" share you have to make it hidden. You do this by putting a "$" at the end of the share name. Now only you know that \\servername\cdromsharename$ is available for you to make a drive to.
I would recommend you share this ONLY to your account and set the share to require no password. You have to have an account on \\servername using the same name and password you are logging into the pc with. Then you should not be asked for authenication. |
