How to set up a router linked to a wireless router

HI,

I am using a Sitecom Wireless WL-018 router connected to a cable modem from my ISP which is working fine and have connected a broadband router DC202 on one of the ports to allow 2 computers on another floor to also use the same internet connection.

Attached to a SE computer is a printer which I would like to use as the network printer. As I am inexperienced with routing can someone advise me how to set up the routing table?

Both routers support RIP V1. All computers are part of the same workgroup and have printer and file sharing on, so far I can not ping computers on one or the other router, but can see and access computers on the same router.

How to make sure they are all capable of sharing printers and files?

Set up is with 2 SE and 2 Win2000 computers.

Thanks for your support

You've got your main router connected to the Internet connection. Your second router which you then plug into this, allowing computers on another floor to access, doesn't really need to act as a router. All the routing is done by the main router connected to the Internet. This second router merely needs to connect the two computers on the other floor to the main router and other computers. A standard hub/switch would work fine and be easier to setup.

You need to configure your router so that all of its routing capabilities are disabled, and so that it acts more like a switch. Then make sure that the cable you use to connect the second router to the first router connects to standard ports (not into any WAN ports).

Then, as long as you've got good IP addresses all on the same subnet throughout, you should be able to ping and access each computer fine.

Exclamation Router Problems

I have T3 connection with Linksys Cable Modem and Linksys BEFSR41 4Port Router and Linksys 16 port Switch and I currently have 2 domain primary and secondary servers clustered for Web/Exchange purposes - I recently was given a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Router/Access Point combo as a gift....and I dont want to take the orginial Router out to replace the wireless router! but I have heard about router to router connections...but I want to set up the wireless router to the existing router as regular switch (not routable at all) for the wireless purposes, how do I go from that?
I heard I need to disable the DHCP? and excatly what I need to do first to last steps?

anybody help me out here?

What you need to do first is find out from linksys if this router has a setting to become a wireless bridge. It sounds like that is what you want to do. Use this to extend your network to a wireless segment.
