Internet connection problem

Hi
Iam using a Net Gear WGR614v2 router. My friend was using his laptop connected to the modem through this router via a cable and using the internet. I got a new laptop and tried hooking to the internet throught the other hub port via a cable.
The problem is when I first connect to the internet(my friend is not connected at this time), Iam able to connect and when my friend later hooks on the internet he is unable to connect to the internet. The same is the reverse case. Whoever first connects to the internet is able to browse.
We want this to be resolved, making sure both of us r able to hook up to the internet and there should be no problem who comes first and whatssoever.

Please let me know how can i resolve this issue. If u need more details I wud be ready to give it.

Thanks
Prashant

Have you checked to see that NAT is enabled on the router?

Information about NAT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAT

You only have the one public IP address. Computers within the local network have internal IP addresses. You need NAT on the router so that when the local computers access the Internet, it appears that the request is being made from the one external IP address.

To check whether or not it is enabled, logon to the web based admin for your router. There should be a NAT section there.

Hi, I logged into the web based admin console of the Netgear wgr614v2 router. I Could not find any NAT section in there.
Could you please tell me how should I go ahead abt this?.
My friend who is hooked on the internet is using Windows 2000.
I have a Windows XP operating system.

Thanks
Prashant

I'll do what you say and ignore the settings shown in the screenshot, because some of them are definitely not correct

Hmm, I can't see a NAT section. But I'd have thought that if you run the Setup Wizard (the top link) it would set everything correctly for you? Have you tried to see if that helps?
