Internet main connection lost problem

Hi
I lost main internet connection.when i look at the ip it is not naturally my own.
Ip:169.254.83.168
Mask:255.255.0.0
gateway:blank

sometimes. When i try to repair connection i get my netwerk gateway:192.168.0.1

I have first computer:netwerk ip:192.168.0.1
Mask:255.255.255.0
Gateway:blank

Second computer:Ip:192.168.0.2
mask:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.0.1
DNS same both of the computer

Internet options>Local Connection>Automatic connection is disabled.

What might be the reason?

Greetings &
Thanks a lot.

When you get an IP address like 169.254.83.168, it means the computer isn't able to contact the DHCP server to obtain an IP address - so there's normally a communication problem. How are you connecting to the router?

So is the cable modem responsible for handing out IP addresses across the network? I think there must be one of two problems: either there's a temporary communication problem between the modem and computer so an IP address doesn't get given out, or there's a problem with the modem that means it doesn't always give out an IP address.

Perhaps try connecting the modem directly to the computer, to eliminate any possible network problems. Also make sure the firmware is upgraded.

I think I understand now.

I don't see why the modem is connected to the hub and computer A. Take the modem and connect it only to computer A with the USB cable. Computer A will have two network connections - one which connects to the modem and one which connects to the hub.

For the modem one, make sure that DHCP is enabled - your IP settings etc. should be assigned automatically to you by your ISP. Then, make sure that Internet Connection Sharing is enabled on this connection.

Computer A will also have a second network interface. This needs the following details manually assigned:
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: blank
DNS servers: the IP addresses given to you by your ISP

Then, computer B will just have the one network interface. This needs the following details manually assigned:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS servers: the IP addresses given to you by your ISP

So, the internal network cards should be manually assigned, and the one connecting to your modem should be using DHCP.

Unfortunately i can not try it,since my first computer is not working anymore. It was shutting down and it was not started again.I was thinking problem is cpu cooler.I have bought new original cpu cooler and extra fun but it did not help.I can not resart the computer. My grafîc card works. What could be the reason do you have any idea?
Second computer (B)was connecting to online game almost at least 14 hours.Ragnarok etc.Can it be over usage of network?Someone told me that usb usage can demage the computer and i should use ethernet cable.
But i was just thinking does it work if modem is connected to just computer A.I was thinking that hub needs also connection to modem.
I can try when i solve the problem.

Thanks a lot for your help.
Greetings

I don't think there can be an over usage of the network considering you have only 2 computers (with one down) on it. Do what Edwin recommends:

1. Put the modem on the network
2. Configure static IP for the 2nd PC (Settings as recommended)
3. Confirm the IP for the modem and set that as the default gateway on the 2nd PC.
4. Use the Primary and Secondary DNS as provided by ISP

After all that, you should have it working again.

It is working.I did not know that.I was always thinking that between hub and modem it should be ethernet cable connection.
It might be the my connection lost problem.
By the way my computer is restarting again.I unplugged all atx power. Then waited a minute and replugged and computer can restart again.
By the way i bought just between hub and modem crosswired cable.I took this away.Should i use it instead of ethernet cable? Can it be better?I mean to connect from computer A to hub.
Since i have extra cable now.

Thanks a lot to all.
Greetings

I don't understand what you're asking. I thought you were going to connect the modem to computer A using a USB cable.

I took away cross cable which was used to connect cable modem and hub.(With your perfect idea)
I have normal ethernet cable connection between main computer(A) and hub.

Can it be cross cable better to use instead of normal ethernet cable?I mean transferring data etc. connectin is better etc.
Since i paid 4 times more than normal cable? Why this cross cable is much more expensive? Is it transferring faster information?
Thanks a lot

A crossover cable and a standard ethernet cable should transfer data at the same speed, but they aren't interchangeable. You should always connect computers to a hub using a standard straight-through cable, and you only need a crossover cable when you connect two computers directly.
