Internet Sharing Connection problem
hello all,
i am having a small problem with sharing a dial up internet connection with xp. this is how it is set up: i have a desktop that connects to the internet and i have a laptop. i use a wireless router to on my network which is working fine, i can connect remotly from the laptop to the desktop and transfer files, all that. on the laptop i have an icon that allows me to connect to the internet connection on the desktop. i double click that and it dials the internet. the only problem is when i open explorer on the laptop it cant find the internet connection, same with outlook. but if i go to the desktop i can use the internet like normal. here are all the technicals: desktop Physical Address: 4C-00-10-12-2D-BC IP Address: 192.168.0.1 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: DNS Servers: 210.80.58.34, 210.80.58.42 WINS Server: laptop Physical Address: 00-09-5B-BC-44-BC IP Address: 192.168.0.3 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 DNS Servers: 210.80.58.34, 210.80.58.42 WINS Server: i am assuming that the DNS servers are IP addresses given to me from ozemail. they were given to me when i was connecting up my broadband, but because i moved to an area with no broadband, i have to back to dial up. any ideas, pls help!! cheers, |

Can I just check a few details? You have a router but it isn't being used for sharing the Internet (so it's just being used for a switch)? The Internet connection connects directly to the desktop?

Are you talking about Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer? Do you get any error messages? |
