Is this possible and if so how?

Ok I have seen people use parabolic dishes like the ones from primestar and such to capture wireless internet data.

I have seen instructions on how to build one of these antennas and then hook them to a wireless card on a laptop. Theres even an article on techtv where the guy made one out of a can of pringles.

Ok I have a couple of parabolic dishes lying around my house and would like to build someting that hooks up to my computer and is able to send data packets (communicate) to another computer also having the same setup but able to receive and send data.

Like a small chat application over the air.

Ok now i now this is probably nothing new, but would like to build it out myself with readily available materials execept of course the wireless cards.

Now I don't need to have internet access to be able to build something like this right.

Sorry if this is somehow out of place but i have gone over this about a thousand times and want to build it . Is there any links any one recommends what other hardware might i need?
