Lantastic 8.0 question

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone out there is a Lantastic expert, I could use a litttle help with figuring out why the latest addition to the network simply won't connect. Running XP, I am adding a user to the network, cable connected, Lantastic 8.01 installed, rebooted, brought up connection menu, can see the server, but when I click connect, I get an error saying "Cannot locate computer name or resource." I have gone to the (DOS) server and tried to connect from that side, but I get a similar error. I have disabled the firewall and reconfigured the DCOM security settings as suggested by one tech, but the error has not disappeared. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've never heard of that software, but make sure the name of the PC is something the software can read. For instance, old DOS computers or very early Windows PCs couldn't recognize computer names that were over a certain length (maybe even if they had symbols in them such as "-").

Also, is file/print sharing enabled under TCP/IP properties of the machine you're trying to connect to, turned off the firewall to test it, etc...? Can the lantastic server ping the xp machine?

Go to PC Micro, who has Lantastic as a legacy, and they can give you an S/N and V/K for your program. Good luck. Nobody seems to know anything about this networking software anymore. PC Micro has some canned answers to specific questions but nobody there seems to actually have any working knowledge of the program.
