Limit bandwidth by IP or host?

Is it possible to limit bandwith to a specified bytes/second for a specific IP address and/or host name?

If so, how would I go about doing this?

It depends on your OS.

With FreeBSD eg. you can setup a queue for a specific IP and limit bandwidth on that using ipfw.

I'm on RH9... I'll look into ipfw.

Thanks

I've used iptables to ban the IP already, but I want to enable it again with a limited bandwidth.

I've just realised that I didn't mention this was restricting bandwidth on an Apache server =P... I'm trying a 3rd-party module called mod_bandwidth but if anyone knows a better solution, let me know.
