this message is from the laptop !!
it works it works!!
Not sure how but changed a few things around and added the gateway address to the preferred DNS and recreated network etc and after a blue screen of death when i thought all was lost it now works !!! - for how long....that is th question!!

Thanks so much for all the advice i was given to get started!! really really appreciate it !!

yeah me too !!only prob now is a friend has now said "oh if you konw how to do it then you can do mine" DOH !! They didnt understand how long it took me and how frustrating it really was !!!!!!

I think now that you've done it once and know roughly what you're doing you'll find it a lot easier the second time around

Anyway, computers being computers it will either be completely straightforward or there'll be a completely different problem!
