Linksys Wireless Card Dropping Connection

I Have a Linksys WPC11 v.3 connected to a Linksys Wireless Access Point. Even though I am right behind the router(wall in between) the connection always drops after a few minutes of connection.

Thanks,
Nick125

Try switching the routers channel to another channel, I am assuming you are on channel 11, try going to channel 10 and try each channel until you find the one that doesn't drop you. Also make sure that you are using infrastructure instead of ad-hoc if you are connecting to the router. Try that and let me know.

I have tried different channels from 1 to 11 with nothing different. I have checked the mode and it is on Infrastructure on the wireless card.

Thanks,

Wireless, definitely a love / hate thing. I seem to recall having a similar problem and it had something to do with Windows and the manufacturer software both trying to manage the connection. I seem to remember that turning it off or on cured the problem. Is that vague enough

You should temporarily move your PC w/wireless next to the WAP and test it there.

Has the card ever worked correctly? I have had issues like this with cards and it was unrecoverable, I had to replace the card. I would suggest calling Linksys but they will most likely be of no assistance, but what the heck try them anyway. Usually if it is not an antenna issue (not tight) or the channel issue, and you tried the new driver, then try another card.

The Card worked before but not anymore. I called Linksys and they were of no help. They just told me to try to change the channels to either 1, 6, and 11 which try before.

Also make sure that you are not running a cordless phone when you are trying to connect... The newer style phones will interfer with the signal, along with microwaves, fluorecent lights and other appliances around the house.

Hope this helps.

Okay I went and bought an New WPC54G and an new 802.11G router. The Wireless card worked until now. The Connection would go from 54Mbp/s to 5.5Mbp/s and then the connection would drop. After that I discovered a virus in the C:\windows\driver\nfs.sys file. I decided after some thought to go and start fresh with the recovery disk. After the machine booted, I pluged in the card. Windows detected it as an "Ethernet Controller". I tried to install the drivers that Linksys had posted on their site. I used the drivers for the Texas Instrements Cardbus because that is the Cardbus controller. I installed the Wireless Monitor that was in the drivers. The install of that was fine but in the monitor, it said that the card was inactive. I went in to the system properties and found under the other devices, the "Ethernet Controller" with an ! mark next to it. So I went to the device properties. It reports that the drivers are not installed. I have tried every folder that WAS to have wireless card drivers (The folder that I extacted the driver from and the program directory of the Linksys Wireless Monitor. Can Anyone help me on this issue as I am getting frustrated at this NEW Card.

Did the new card come with a CD? Try running that and getting it to install the drivers.

Try contacting Linksys and telling them that none of their drivers work with the wireless card.

I already did so. They said that it was weird that it didn't work.
