Linux & Windows XP

I have a few questions that I'd like some help with.

I have an old machine (266mhz) that I am going to install Linux on. I have a few questions though,

first, what do I need to do to make the Linux Machine to work the XP machine. I found the Linux drivers for the network card, what do I need to know/do to make the network work?

Second, is it possible to make it so a request on port 80 (for an apache server) is forwarded to the linux machine (where I plan on installing apache) and still have everything work properly with the server?
