Hi everyone
I would appreciate it if someone can help me with this problem I am having. I have three machines, one running 98, the other Xp and the other millenium. I have a connection between the computers through a hub. when I first connected the computers I they could all see each other and they could access all the shared recources like printers. The problem is that when the computers are switched off they loose the connection and I end up having to do the whole ntework setup on each computer again. I am kind of new to networking and what frustrates me is that the connecytion is only lost when the PCs are switched off. The main thing is that the printer needs to be shared and it is on the 98 machine. What can the problem be and also why do the computers work fine when i configure them until they are switched off. |

I'm guessing, but perhaps it's to do with the IP addresses. Try giving each of the computers static IP addresses which are in the same subnet (for example 192.168.0.x). When you reboot, the IP address should remain the same, and the connection to the network should be OK. Also make sure that when you manually set the IP address, you set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
