need basic networking help

Hi. I have just set up a router with two computers hooked up to it. I was able to get one computer to set up the microsoft windows network correctly, called MSHOME. With the second computer I did the same thing, but when I click on MSHOME, i get an error. It says:

----------------------
MSHOME is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the adminstrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.
--------------------------

Any help will be appreciated. BTW, I am logged in as system administrator for both computers.

Did you drop the window's firewall? That's how I got mine to work.

Question Re: need basic networking help

Here is your problem Answer

First look at the IP address which you give to first Computer. Is this correct and the Defalut Mask is also Correct.
After that check that the Router Encapsulation , it will be PPP
Because computer canbe communicate .

Do this and then tell me that this solve your problem.

I assume you're using WIN2K?

Go into Control Panel => Users and passwords=>Click ADVANCED tab =>Click ADVANCED button

In this explorer style screen, You have USERS and GROUPS. Click USERS, Then on the other side RIGHT CLICK and select "New User..."

Next enter the exact name of the OTHER computer and the LOGON name. All the other options are fairly self explainatory.

Hope this helps.
