Need help with D-Link DI-514 router

I recently bought a D-link DI-514 wireless router. Have not been able to get it to work with my Earthlink DSL service. Tried all the settings. Even tried Earthlink's support but they were no help. They told me that they do not provide support for "third party" hardware. I e-mailed D-Link directly and they told me that this router is compatible with Earthlink, yet I have not been able to connect with their service. I am hoping someone out there has had a similar problem and is willing to provide me with step by step instructions on how to get this router to work. I have been trying for days now without any success.
