Need Networking Help Bad!!!

Hey guys i am trying to setup a home network where all the computers have the 10/100 Ethernet. I have a seperate computer that i would like to be the server so that we can back up. I have a 14 port hub and all the wires run. The computers are all running Windows XP but the server has NT on it. I was wondering if I should change the server OS to XP. I have heard though that XP will not allow other computers to access the partitioned hard drive. I would like to have a different space for every computer and i just have no clue how to do this. Please if someone can help me that would be great.

try the actual win 2k advanced server as its made to service win/2k and xp (and lower level windows operating systems) clients.
all the client will default to either peer to peer or dhcp ( for dynamic ip adds and domains).

if u only wnat a server win 2k server the one for this env.

This is a home network guys! You don't need a "server" product to have a server in your home peer to peer network.

You DO NOT need W2K server.

NT will work fine for you. I think the thing about a XP partition is someones confusion concerning a multiboot system and that NT can't read fat32. This is a local not network issue. Don't worry about it.

What you describe concerning user disk space on the server is referred to as a home folders.

It is just like creating regular folders except you give the user all rigths to their folder and take away all rights from everyone else so the folder is exclusivly that users.
