but i dont have a clue on how to network the 2 computers, im really stuck. i have old 10mb Lan Hub, and 2 lan cables (crossthru i think). my computer has a PCI lan card, and my mate has a onboard Gigabyte lan card. Both computers are using windows Xp - 1 using Proffesional and 1 using Home. what do i need to do to get these to computers networked. ps we only have a 56k internet connection avialable. |

If you're only using two computers, you can connect them directly with a crossover cable. You have no need for a hub (and even if you wanted to use one, you haven't got the correct type of cables). Once you've connected them both together, give one an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the other an IP address of 192.168.0.2. Make sure that both have the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. As long as you haven't got any firewalls running, you should be able to communicate between them.
