Networking Nightmare!!

Hello,
I have a Broadband router which has DHCP enabled and allocates IP addresses on the 192.168.123.xxx range, from 192.168.123.1. I have fixed IP mapping also configured so that IPs are asigned by MAC address as well. This works fine, however, a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional machine was unavilable for connectivity today, and the following error was left in the event log:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: dnscache
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11050
Date: 13/09/2004
Time: 08:50:40
User: N/A
Computer: ********
Description:
The DNS Client service could not contact any DNS servers for a repeated number of attempts. For the next 30 seconds the DNS Client service will not use the network to avoid further network performance problems. It will resume its normal behavior after that. If this problem persists, verify your TCP/IP configuration, specifically check that you have a preferred (and possibly an alternate) DNS server configured. If the problem continues, verify network conditions to these DNS servers or contact your network administrator.
Data:
0000: b4 05 00 00 ´...

I also get errors regarding the IP configuration in windows 2000 professional, because I set the machine to "Obtain an IP address automatically", DHCP becomes enabled on the local machine???

Help really appreciated!!! Thanks

What happens if you set a static IP on the 2000 machine Including DNS servers?

I dont think it works properly. I`ll try it again later but when I tried last night it wasn't working. Also, the DNS settings. These are from ISP correct?
Cheers

All the settings should be the same as the commputer that is working.Exept of course its IP address. And also flush the dns cache on your 2000 box cmd>ipconfig /flushdns
