Networking Possibilites
Cheers all,
Im in need of some direction. Im looking to move my mother onto a peice of land that borders mine and would like some help in understanding how I can get her a wifi signal from my broadband connection to her home. Im new to wifi so I don't know what all equipment I need to make this happen. I do know I want to go with a N network because I want to be up to date. Tell me if im understanding this correctly My connection out Wireless Router with an outdoor Hi gain antenna. Her side Another ourdoor hi gain antenna into another wireless router Install a wireless card into her desktop. Is that it? Or am I understanding this wrong. Do I need wireless Bridges? Thanks for any guidance on this. Carl |

Ok wifi bridge on her end. Now for the cantenna. Would this be on her end , with a omni directional on my end. Otherwise with 2 cantenna's you would have to line of sight them. |

Depends a bit on what you want to spend. The up thread suggestions are possibilities. You can also look at expensive professional stuff from Proxim or Terabeam. They are usually used by country ISPs, they put antennas in the atticks of houses and barns, to link places that are too far for wires.
If you can, its a lot more reliable to rent a ditch witch and just bury some CAT5. |
