    Networking question.

    Hi,

this is my first time posting in any forum, so please forgive me if i said anything wrong...

i am trying to set up a network in my office. I have an existing network, but i want to separate my accountant pc from the network... and yes i setting gigabit network for the accounts.
i think drawing a picture will help explaining my situation.

(forum rules dont let me link to imageshack, how do i attach my jpeg to this thread?)

okok, my pc one two and three are connected using normal setting, direct connected to router.

the special setting is, is the pc three four and five
PC three have 1 onboard LAN, and 2 pci LAN. PC four and five each have 1 onboard LAN...

in PC three, i use 1 Lan for internet, which i set the
    IP to 192.168.1.102 ,
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    default gateway 192.168.1.1
    Preferred DNS 192.168.1.1
    Alternate DNS 202.188.0.133

this setting so far so good, i can get internet for my PC three...

now for 2nd NIC, i set it to share internet to my PC four.
    IP 192.168.0.1
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    default gateway 192.168.0.1
    Preferred DNS 192.168.1.1
    Alternate DNS 202.188.0.133

this also good, my PC four can access files in PC three and get Internet from PC three~

ok, so here is the problem. My PC four cannot locate PC one or PC two.

i no good with networking analogy/terminology/jargon, i receive no formal education for this.
I google alot but i cannot find how to fix my problem above.

Alternate solution is, i buy another usb wireless adapter for my PC four, connect to 192.168.1.100.

I posting this coz i trying to learn more about network.

Sorry if i ask wrong thing, and let me know if any info i can provide to fix this problem.

sorry again and thanks in advance.

Just out of curiosity, is English your first/primary language?

Now onto to the real stuff. Could you just simplify this for us? What is it exactly you are trying to do?

As for posting the link to imageshack just post it in the thread with a space insted of the :
    e.g.
    http //scanme.org

    We'll know to replace it... ( :

english not my primary language. sorry.

    to simplify things,

    i have 2 network,
    1 is 192.168.1.x
    2 is 192.168.0.x

pc one two three is connected in 192.168.1.x (pc to switch 100mbps)
pc three have 2 more Gigabit NIC, connecting pc four and five with 192.168.0.x (pc to pc 1000mbps)

problem is, pc four, 192.168.0.3, cannot grab files from pc one, 192.168.1.2

No need to apologize for the English thing, it just helps me adjust my writing style. I try to be more precise with my language when I know someone isn't as used to English.

Now, why do you want/need two networks? Is there some reason behind it? If it's a matter of ports I'd recommend just getting a switch and making them all be on one network. It's a MUCH simpler setup.

    i'm trying to cut cost.

i have existing 8port 100mb router, and i'm connecting it to PC one , PC two, and PC three without trouble.

then, i'm trying to set up a gigabit (1000mb) network for PC three, PC four, and PC five.

PC three is the middleman(i'm using it), PC one and PC two is for the normal clerk outside(which 100mb router is good enough), PC four and PC five is my accountans' PC(i needed the gigabit network so accountant can access to multiple files faster)

Buying a 8port gigabit router in my place would cost around 100usd.
I'm thinking, just buy few Gigabit NIC card will do just the same thing, and i save like tens of dollars.

Probably not that much of a saving, plus i need to go through hell setting up the network, but this also a good chance for me to learn things.

But, in the end, if its not feasible, or if i fed up getting no answer to my question, i would just buy the gigabit router and be done with it~

thanks adam for your reply. i'm looking forward to hear from you again.

As long as you are in the US:

    Take Your Pick.

There's three good 10/100/1000 switches for around $50 USD. Here's a full list for sub-$75 switches from Newegg.

I even felt artistic today and drew you a picture of what your network should look like. Oh, and one more thing, saving yourself $20 now will not help the headaches later if your setup is poor.
