You don't need a fax machine to get faxes. Get a fax-to-email fax number from CallWave. Try it free.

New to home networking...
Evening all, new here. Not sure what kind of board this is really, but anything you wanna know just ask :a
Anyway, reason for posting: I'm building a wireless home network not too far in the future and was wondering.. A: Any opinions/experiences (good or otherwise) of the Linksys G system (router and pci card )? B: (This is the one I'm more worried about) Any possible issues I should prepare myself for when trying to construct a network around a Win98 SE server and a WinXP Pro client? Not an idle situation having a Win98 doing the server duties, I know, but it's a family machine and is therefore attached to broadband connection. I'm basically aiming to get file/printer and broadband sharing up and running. Many thanks in advance! |

I've no experience of linksys routers and pci cards, but you should be able to find reviews on the Internet.
There probably won't be a problem using the Windows 98 computer as the server. If you only need to set it as the computer sharing the Internet, this should be fine since Windows 98 includes Internet Connection Sharing. File/printer sharing between the two computers shouldn't be a problem. |
